Kathakali Theater is a traditional folk art of Malayalam ethnic group of South-Western India, mostly in Kerala . It represents costume pantomime where every action and every gesture has its meaning that harks back to the ancient times. Kathakali stories are taken from the ancient Indian epics “Mahabharata” and “Ramayana”.Traditionally, the theater was performed by the villagers on moonlit night and lasted until dawn. Also, point that deserves attention is a makeup, which actors diligently apply for the performance . It consists of natural ingredients: grounded minerals, vegetable and tree sap, paste made of rice flour and coconut oil that is used for mixing pigments . Kathakali is an incredibly beautiful and fascinating act and it’s meaning is understandable without words and explanations.
